2025-06-09T08:28:37+01:00

Before our May Procession service today we took time to celebrate the news that a new pope has been chosen and Mrs Macdonald led the school in prayer for Pope Leo XIV, that he will lead God’s people with wisdom and humility. Mrs Price and members of Intermediate led our special liturgy in honour of our Blessed Mother Mary in which the children were reminded of her perseverance, care and joyfulness and her bravery in saying yes when God asked her to be the mother of Jesus. During the week the children have all been busy preparing paper flowers on [...]

2025-06-09T08:25:50+01:00

On Thursday, to celebrate VE Day, the children and staff came to school dressed in red, white, and blue to mark the occasion. We shared a special lunch together, that was beautifully decorated, creating a lovely sense of community and remembrance. During the lunch, the children observed a two minute silence, sang songs, enjoyed music from the era, and proudly waved their flags to honour this important moment in history.

Lower One – Colchester Zoo

2025-06-09T08:19:24+01:00

On Wednesday 7th May, Lower One had an exciting day at Colchester Zoo. This visit supported their science topic on Plants and Living Things and their English work on information texts. After a short journey, the children eagerly set off in small groups to explore the zoo. Throughout the day, they discovered different animal habitats, picked up fascinating facts, and learned about the endangered status of many species. A particularly exciting moment was seeing real animal bones — including a crocodile skull! One of the highlights was the ‘Out of Africa’ section, where the children saw giraffes, ostriches, elephants, antelopes, [...]

Lower One and Upper One had a fantastic afternoon at the Odeon in Chelmsford where they took part in a new Creative Writing project in association with Creative Learning World on Tuesday 29th April. The programme included a fun 30 minute Creative Writing workshop which reinforced story planning skills and gave the children some great tips for choosing and describing characters and using onomatopoeia, followed by a showing of the new Warner Bros. film ‘A MINECRAFT MOVIE’. The children thoroughly enjoyed both activities, and were particularly enthusiastic when joining in with ‘Steve’s Lava Chicken’ song! The children will be continuing [...]

2025-05-02T12:10:42+01:00

The whole school celebrated Foundation Day, which is the school's birthday, on Friday 25th April. All children and staff wore white flowers and/or white ribbons and at lunchtime Mrs Macdonald led the school in singing happy birthday as we cut our school birthday cake. Mrs. Parker-Litjens took a special assembly to mark the occasion, sharing information about our school’s foundation, its history, successes and about Mother Clare who founded the Brentwood Ursuline Convent School and had a love of white flowers. Our thanks go to the PFA who organised ribbons and flowers for the children to wear. [...]

Easter Activities

2025-04-12T18:12:37+01:00

Upper Two Easter Assembly Upper Two performed a beautifully acted dramatization of Holy Week and the death and resurrection of Christ this morning, both to their parents and as part of our End of Term Assembly. The children worked hard to present their play, which featured the Last Supper, Jesus’ trial, death and resurrection and the reactions of his disciples and followers. The scenes portrayed, reminded us all that Easter brings us the hope of salvation, the forgiveness of sins, and the promise of eternal life through faith in Jesus. 2025-04-12T17:51:48+01:00

Last Friday, Transition had a fantastic Space Day! The classroom was transformed into a cosmic universe, with blacked-out windows, swirling galaxies projected onto the ceiling, and fairy lights twinkling around the room. Both the children and teachers dressed as astronauts and spent the day engaging in space-themed activities, including cosmic yoga with an astronaut on the International Space Station, a space quiz, creative writing based on a journey into space, and even sampling space food! One of the highlights was definitely watching the children try space ice cream!
