Transition had a fantastic day at Chatham Dockyard as we explored many ships and exhibits aspart of our History work on The History of Ships.

We went back in time to find out how they built ships in Nelson’s time through a holographic experience which brought everything alive- did you know that it took 3500 trees to build one wooden warship? Next we went to the Ropery which makes ropes for ships and for the film industry including all the ropes for the film Paddington in Peru! The children learnt how to make rope and then met a Pirate who taught us how to become a pirate crew and we marvelled at her treasure, dressed up and sang songs. It was a full and very enjoyable day!
