As part of their history topic Upper Two have been experiencing some unique World War 2 themed hands-on learning opportunities: VE Day Workshop Educational dance company Dance Days, provided a fantastic workshop for the Upper Two children who spent the afternoon learning a choreographed routine set to 1940’s music. On Tuesday 1st April, the girls' football team, consisting of children from Upper Two, Lower Two and Upper One, competed in the U11 District Football Cup final. The match, held at Brentwood School, was played in front of a large and passionate crowd, making the experience even more memorable for the girls. The team played exceptionally well, winning the final 2-0 and becoming District Champions for the first time in our school's history. This fantastic achievement was well-deserved, as the girls demonstrated determination, always giving their best and never giving up.

On Friday, March 28th, Lower One had the opportunity to perform their class assembly, which focused on the Stations of the Cross. After learning this journey in class, they worked incredibly hard, putting in a lot of effort to learn their lines and the words to the songs. On the day, they were joined by their parents and the children from Lower Two. They did an amazing job of singing, narrating the story of Jesus’ journey, and acting out the scenes. They truly made us all so proud. Well done, Lower One!

The Pre-prep hosted their beautiful Mother's Day Assembly on Tuesday, it's hard to imagine they are so young! The songs were amazing and there was not a dry eye in the building. A huge well done to Upper 2 and their parents whose hard work has culminated in a fundraising total of £1451.10. Following weeks of preparation each House set up their stall selling food or drink items and their fun fair game. The hall was a buzz with excitement and sales patter as each class from Pre-Reception to Lower Two came to spend their cash. Everyone had a fantastic time and it was great to see Upper Two utilise their entrepreneurial skills. On Tuesday, 19th March, Lower Two set off for Lakeside to visit Wagamama as part of their ongoing topic of healthy eating and instructional writing, all whilst experiencing the flavours of Japanese cuisine. Upon arrival, the group received an informative introduction to the delicious and nutritious food and drinks offered at Wagamama. They were then divided into three groups, each taking turns to sample different vegetables and noodles, weigh various ingredients, and observe the process of making fresh juices. As part of Lower One's Victorian History lessons, they visited the Ragged Old School Museum, where they had the opportunity to experience what life was like for the poor in London during the time The Ragged Old School opened. During Mrs. Poole's lesson, the children learned about some of the punishments used back then, such as the finger stocks and the back straightener. They also explored different arithmetic methods, the value of money, and recited various poems and phrases. Kindergarten visited their friends at the care home on World book day. The children enjoyed sharing their world book day books and reading them to the residents. A great time was had by all. The children always put a smile on the residents faces and can't wait for their next visit.

On Thursday, the Lower Two girls travelled to Kings High School in Warwick for the ISA National Netball Final. A total of 28 teams from schools across the country competed in the event. Despite the freezing, harsh conditions, the girls played exceptionally well and came away victorious in the Plate Competition, earning 5th place in the country — a fantastic achievement! We are all incredibly proud of them. It was also wonderful to see so many parents showing their support and braving the cold weather!

On Sunday, March 9th, Mr. Lewis took the qualifying children from the District cross country competition to compete in the National finals at Mallory Park Circuit in Leicestershire. All the children performed exceptionally well, facing tough competition. In the Year 4 girls race, we finished in 24th place, while we secured 6th place in the boys Year 4 category. Two girls from Lower Two participated in the girls Year 5/6 event, with one finishing in 45th place and one achieving an outstanding result, claiming 1st place and being crowned National Champion.
