Upper Two enjoyed a day of fun and reflection at the retreat centre at New Hall School to celebrate the end of their last academic year at the school. The day started with mass in the beautiful chapel, celebrated by Fr Martin, who spoke in the Homily of the ways in which we can value ourselves and reminded the children through the reading from Matthew’s Gospel, that God knows us and loves us and that his love is forgiving and unconditional. It was a wonderful way to begin the day and the staff’s hearts were lifted by our class’s superb singing.
Following a delicious snack and drink, members of the chaplaincy team took the children and staff to the courts for a game of basketball. The class competed with healthy enthusiasm and competitiveness and were more than ready for their delicious three course lunch. After our meal they were treated to a tour of the New Hall farm and were also shown some recent historically significant discoveries that had been made in the ha-ha in the grounds.
The afternoon was spent in the chaplaincy centre, where they took part in a guided meditation and a reflection about their uniqueness and their God-given talents.
The class had a fantastic day thanks to the warm welcome they all received from Regan and Rachel and the New Hall staff.
