STEAM Week has been a truly action-packed and memorable week, filled to the brim with a wide range of exciting activities for all the children to enjoy. There has been a real feeling of enthusiasm throughout the school as pupils immersed themselves in creative, scientific, and technological experiences.
We began the week with workshops in both the Infant and Junior departments, where the children explored the world of robotics by designing and building robots to complete a variety of challenging tasks. It was fantastic to see their problem-solving skills and teamwork in action.
Tuesday was ‘Art Day’, led by our resident artist, Miss Dow, who delivered a series of inspiring projects based on influential artists from around the world, including Jamini Roy and Yayoi Kusama. The children fully embraced their creativity, and classrooms were transformed into vibrant spaces filled with colour and imaginative artwork.
On Wednesday, the Junior children were transported to extraordinary environments through their virtual reality experiences. From exploring volcanoes and rainforests to travelling across different countries, it was a truly immersive and unforgettable opportunity to bring learning to life.
Thursday continued the excitement with a variety of hands-on activities. Our Pre-Prep children investigated sound waves and how they travel, even creating their own simple ‘telephones’ using paper cups and string, inspired by early inventions. Meanwhile, Lower Two and Upper Two took on the challenge of coding drones, learning how to control and manoeuvre them around the hall.
Finally, Rock ’N’ Roll Friday brought the week to a lively and energetic close. The school was filled with air guitars, colourful wigs, and (hopefully!) temporary tattoos. Staff competed enthusiastically in a lively game of “Countdown,” while the children showed off their skills in the highly competitive ‘Maths Gauntlet’. After enjoying some well-deserved sunshine at lunchtime, we gathered together to celebrate the week, announcing the winners of the Terrarium competition as well as our ‘Legendary Times Table Rockstars’.
