ISA Regional 5-A-Side Football Tournament

2024-03-22T11:12:33+00:00

On Tuesday, the boys from Lower Two and Upper Two travelled to The Len Forge Centre in Southend with Mr. Taylor and Mr. Wilson to take part in the ISA 5-a-side Regional Football Tournament. We were delighted that the boys were able to play at all, as the original venue, Alleyn Court, were unable to host the event due to waterlogged pitches. 14 teams from various schools in the area took part and the competition was formidable at times. We came top of Group A in the knockout rounds and played against the runners-up of Group B in the semi-final [...]

U11 District Netball Tournament 2024

2024-03-22T11:06:46+00:00

Fifteen schools accepted the invitation to take part in the annual tournament. With some of them intending on bringing two teams making 18 teams competing in total. However, one school withdrew their entry at the last moment which meant we had to play another team in order to make up the group knock out numbers. Notwithstanding the changeable weather, all teams participated with enthusiasm. Ursuline A, B and C teams played with determination and despite some of our girls playing against older girls they held their own. Ursuline A and B teams played in the semi-finals against Woodlands, Hutton Manor [...]

Ash Wednesday Service

2024-03-01T15:46:04+00:00

Children from Pre-Reception upwards and staff gathered to mark the beginning of Lent in our Ash Wednesday service, which was led by Fr John. The service reflected on repentance, thinking of others, and preparing ourselves for the joy of Easter. Upper Two assisted in leading the liturgy and read beautifully and the younger children responded enthusiastically to Fr John’s homily. The school community received ashes on their foreheads with the words, ‘Repent and believe in the Good News’.

2024-03-01T15:01:54+00:00

Upper Two followed up their trip to the Warner Bros. Studios on 8th January with their own school- based Harry Potter themed afternoon this week. We invited our year 6 friends from St Mary’s, Hare Park to join in the fun and a muggletastic time was had by all! The afternoon started with each pupil being assigned their Hogwarts House by the sorting hat. From there the children took part in a host of wizard themed activities including coding, green screen photos, and craft. A selection of weird and wonderful science investigations was also on offer and the children had [...]

Viking Day – Lower Two

2024-03-01T14:10:28+00:00

Lower Two had a Viking themed day with Portals to the Past last Tuesday. The children and staff all dressed up in Viking outfits. During the day the children learnt about how the Vikings came to Britain and how over time they moved from being raiders to invaders and then settlers. They also studied their beliefs, the roles of men, women, and children in their cultures, and also about them as travellers and traders as well as warriors! The children played a traditional Viking board game called ‘Geese and Fox’ and looked at and discussed artifacts and there uses. All [...]

IWM Duxford – Transition Trip

2024-03-01T14:07:18+00:00

On 31st January, Transition braved the cold and windy airfield of Duxford to learn about the History of Flight as part of their History topic. They went into British Airspace and looked at and explored the Comet, Concorde and Hermes. They sequenced the History of flight and discovered the Vulcan and Flying boat. After lunch they went over to the American Hanger and explored American aircraft which included the B52 Bomber and The Black bird Spy plane. They listened carefully to the sad story of 9/11 while watching a recording of the aircraft activity of that day. The children were [...]
