On Tuesday 20th October Kindergarten and Reception took part in the sacrament of a baptism. Following the RE scheme of work from Branch One, Creation and Covenant. Family members were invited to school to join the children for this meaningful occasion.
For the afternoon, the hall was transformed into a church, creating a fitting setting for the service. The symbolic act carried out by our wonderful Priest in Kindergarten, helped the children recognise the importance of this special event. The Alter Servers supported the Priest from Kindergarten as he remained at the Font.
As part of their learning, the children made Baptism cards for baby Joseph, using five symbolic symbols associated with Baptism: water, a candle, oil, the font and a white shawl. These helped reinforce key vocabulary and concepts from their RE lessons.
The children also learned new songs with actions to accompany the service. Every Kindergarten child had a speaking role and an important part to play. Reception, led by choir mistress Maya, sang beautifully throughout and helped make the service even more special.
The children thoroughly enjoyed sharing this memorable experience with their families.
