On Tuesday 24th June, Lower Two went to ‘The Essex Schools Food and Farming Day’ at ARU Writtle. This is a yearly event organised by the Essex Agricultural Society, it was the first time, as a school, we took part in this event.
The children enjoyed walking around each zone, led by our Farmer Steward (Mrs Benton Senior), they found out how their food is produced, the role played by farmers in Essex and the many related jobs within the industry.
In addition, Lower Two took part in the Scarecrow competition. We designed and made a futuristic scarecrow at school within our art lessons. The competition consisted of 70 primary schools which equated to 3,000 Essex school children between the ages 8 to 11. I am delighted to report we came 1st in the competition, being awarded a brand new wheelbarrow and goodies for gardening club to enjoy.
A massive congratulations to Lower Two pupils, well done!
