One of our children in Upper Two, has been working tirelessly for many months to ensure she achieves continued success with her tennis. She has won many prestigious awards over the months and most recently has been awarded the Essex Tennis Performance Player of the Year 2025. Essex Tennis told her that they received a number of high-quality nominations, and to be judged as a county winner is exceptional. On Tuesday, we hosted the ‘ISA Under 10 Netball Tournament’, welcoming schools from across East Anglia. We were proud to have two teams representing the school, both of whom performed brilliantly throughout the competition. Our first team finished in 1st place, with our second team securing an impressive 3rd place. Well done to all the players involved.

Intermediate were fully immersed into the medieval world and spent the day protecting Ursuline Castle from enemies! In the morning, they were set to work making supplies for the castle – candles, finger guards for the soldiers, bread rolls, coin purses and lots more. They then were taught how to defend the castle, with walls of shields and learning how to shoot arrows as a team. We successfully protected Ursuline Castle and celebrated with a banquet, singers, jesters, dancers, a play and even some jousting. It was an amazing day!

On Thursday 19th March Kindergarten spent the afternoon at the Arches Care Home. Throughout the afternoon the children read their reading books to the residents and shared their ‘All About Me’ books. It was a wonderful afternoon full of smiles from the residents, staff and our children. At the end of the afternoon the children were very lucky to receive some very tasty Easter treats from the Care Home.

The U9 mixed rugby team travelled to Woodlands, Hutton on Friday 13th March to compete in the ‘ISA Tag Rugby Tournament’ .The team produced an excellent performance, winning all four of their opening matches. This achievement was particularly impressive as several of the boys had already represented the school earlier that morning in the ‘Brentwood Schools Football Tournament’ .In the final, they faced Maldon Court Preparatory School. Despite a strong and determined performance, they were narrowly defeated and finished the tournament as runners-up, proudly bringing home silver medals.

The U9’s boys football team went to ‘Brentwood School’s Football Tournament on Friday 13th March. All the boys played very well with the team managing to become runners up in the plate competition.

Our Lower Two netball team had an outstanding performance at the Brentwood Netball Tournament. The girls played against six other schools in the group stage, winning every game and progressing confidently to the semi-finals. In the semi-final, they delivered another fantastic performance, securing a convincing 10–1 victory to move into the final. The final was played against St Peter’s and proved to be an extremely tight and exciting match. The team showed great determination, teamwork and resilience, eventually securing the win and becoming Brentwood Tournament Champions once again. Eight members of Upper Two, accompanied by Mrs Macdonald and Mrs Connolly, attended the Commonwealth Day Service of Celebration at Westminster Abbey following an invitation from the Maltese High Commission. The event celebrated the enduring spirit of the Commonwealth, with all 56 member nations represented in the presence of Their Majesties The King and Queen.  The service began and concluded with a procession featuring representatives of different faith communities, dignitaries from the UK government and other Commonwealth nations, honorary guests, and the flags of the Commonwealth. On Wednesday 11th March 2026, our netball team travelled to Warwick to compete in the National Netball Finals, having successfully qualified through the regional stages of the competition. The team delivered an outstanding performance throughout the day, playing six matches in the group stages and winning every game. This impressive run included a victory over last year’s national champions and secured their place in the Cup semi-finals. The whole school celebrated their love of reading by dressing up as their favourite character for World Book Day. Each class (and many of the staff) had a chance to show off their fabulous costumes and share their favourite books on our WBD catwalk. It was clear from the excitement in the hall that everyone at the Ursuline Prep is as passionate as ever about reading and gains a great deal of pleasure from the daily reading opportunities that take place.
