"Pupils feel valued and supported from the youngest age and able to tackle challenges willingly, both in class and in the wider aspects of school life."
Independent School Inspectorate 2019.
There exists within the School a long-standing and very successful House System. Every teacher and pupil is allocated to one of the four Houses which are named after the Patron Saints of the British Isles. As well as celebrating the feasts of these Saints the children are awarded House points for good behaviour, hard work and courtesy. Each week the House Cup is presented on behalf of all members to the Captain of the House which has gained the most points.
Various Inter-House events take place throughout the year to encourage a competitive spirit, a sense of team work and good sportsmanship. These include events of various kinds, such as Sports Day in the Summer Term, Junior Quiz Night and also the annual Pancake Race! Parents are often invited on these occasions when their presence and support are much appreciated. Each House has a House Captain who has responsibility for various aspects within the School.
Every teacher in the Ursuline Preparatory School is firmly committed to the idea that positive reinforcement motivates a child to give of his/her best. Consequently, much use is made of praise. House points are awarded for hard work, effort, good behaviour and kindness. Merit Awards are presented to each class in assembly every week. There is a reward system set up for excellent work. In the top Junior Class, children are appointed school officers.
