As part of the school curriculum the children follow various activities within the Athletics Scheme of Work. There is also Athletics Club which is offered to all Junior children.
The school competes in numerous tournaments including the district and ISA regionally and nationally. During the national competition held annually in Birmingham we have had tremendous success with many children finishing in medal winning positions.
ISA National Athletics 2022
On the 13th June eight children from Upper one represented East Anglia in the National athletics competition held in Manchester. They achieved some excellent results. The girls relay team comprising of Ava Patel, Sienna Linnen, Poppy Heighton and Grace Diji came 4th and the boys relay team comprising of William Barker, Dreydon Ewan, Lucas Oliutan and Paul Dibigbo came 3rd.
Paul also managed to come 3rd in the 70m sprint and 1st in the long jump thus being crowned ISA National champion.
ISA Regional Athletics 2022
Mr. Lewis and Mrs. Cummins took teams from Upper One and Lower Two to the ISA Regional Athletics competition at Garon Park, Southend. We were very fortunate with the weather and all the children gave of their very best.
Congratulations to Grace, Poppy, Sienna L and Ava P who came 1st in the girl’s relay race and to William, Paul, Dreydon and Lucas who came 1st in the boy’s relay race. Both teams now go on to represent East Anglia in the ISA National Athletics Competition in Manchester of 13th June.
Paul was also victorious in the 60m sprint and the long jump, so will compete in these events at the National Competition also.

ISA Regional Athletics
On Friday 25th June the athletics team competed in the ISA Regional Athletics competition which was held at Garons park Southend. The children had a great time and were a credit to the school.
The pupils had some excellent results with Joseph Mikolajczyk, Edward Porter, Rosie Quirk and Joseph Regan all coming first in their events. A special mention to Joseph Mikolajczk who broke his personal best in the long jump competition recording 4.20m. We also had success in the relay events with the Upper Two boy’s coming first and the girls from Upper and Lower Two finishing in second place.
District Athletics 2019
The Small Schools' District Athletics Competition took place at Brentwood School and was attended by 5 of the local schools. The children performed very well in their respective event, excelling in the field events and the relays. Children throughout the juniors took part. They finished the morning as district champions, retaining their title.

ISA National Athletics 2019
On the 19th June the children that qualified to represent East Anglia travelled to Birmingham to compete in this event. They achieved some excellent results. Rosie Quirk came 3rd in the 600m track event, Lilly Quirk 7th in the 60m sprint, Ben Vize 2nd in the 75m sprint, Edward Porter 3rd in the 60m sprint. Joseph Mikolajczyk 2nd in the 600m race. He also broke a 10 year long jump record to become national long jump champion.
ISA Regional Athletics 2019
The ISA Regional Athletics Competition took place during the school half-term. Unfortunately, because of this we were unable to take a full team of boys and girls to compete in this annual event. Nevertheless, the children all tried of their best and enjoyed the experience.The team did exceptionally well. Joseph Mikolajcyk became a double regional champion, winning both the long jump and 600m events. In the sprint races, three children; Lilly Quirk, Edward Porter and Ben Vize won their races and as a result became regional champions. These children will be attending the ISA National Competition, taking place on Wednesday, 19
th June at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, alongside Rosie Quirk for gaining second position in the 600m. Leo McCarthy came second in the shot put and Harry Tucker achieved third place in the long jump. The Year 4 boy’s relay team also did very well, finishing in second place.
District Athletics 2018
The Small Schools' District Athletics was organised by the Ursuline Prep and held at Brentwood School on Thursday 28th June. There were six schools competing in the field and track events. After the field events the Ursuline was in the 1st position. Following some great running performances, especially in the relay competition, the athletics team regained their title of District champions. Congratulation to the PE teaching staff and all the children who competed.

ISA Regional Athletics 2018
This event was held during our half-term break on the 8th June and therefore we were not able to take a full team. However, the competing children performed well achieving 2nd place in the Year 6 Boy's Long Jump and three third placings; Year 6 Girl's Ball Throw, Year 4 Boy's 150m and Year 5 Girl's High Jump. In the team competition the school finished 8th out of the 15 competing schools.

On Monday 19th two children from the Ursuline Prep were selected to represent East Anglia at the National Athletics Tournament which was held at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. The children had a great time and were a credit to themselves and the school. Both children achieved 4
th place in their events of Ball Throw and 150m sprint.
District Athletics 2017
On Tuesday 13
th June the Ursuline Prep School, along with five other local schools, took part in the Brentwood Small Schools' Athletics Competition. The event was held at Brentwood School and comprised of both track and field events. Pupils from Blackmore Primary School, Herrington House School, Kelvedon Hatch School, Trinity School, Ursuline Prep School and Woodlands School competed in sprint, relay, high jump, long jump and ball throw competitions. The event was a very competitive one with 2 district records being broken:- Ethan Aronowicz broke the district record for long jump with an impressive 3.89m jump and Isabella McCarthy broke the ball throw record with a throw of 33.20m. All the children performed very well, especially Emilia Hardy (Ball throw) and Florence Willett (150m), who both came first in their respective events and will therefore represent ISA East at the National Championships in Birmingham this on Monday 19th June 2017. National ISA Athletics 2016
On Wednesday, 30th June, four pupils participated in the National Athletics Tournament at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. The children had a great time and were a credit to themselves and to the school; positions achieved were 12th in the 600m, 4th in the Long Jump and 7th in the 75m Sprint and High Jump.
District Athletics 2016
On Tuesday, 21
st June, we participated in the annual Small Schools’ District Athletics competition held at Brentwood School. Unfortunately, we were unable to take children from Upper Two as they were on a trip in London. This, however, did allow us to use Lower 2 children in the Year 6 events. All the children did extremely well and tried their best. The team finished in 4th place, which was a great achievement, considering the circumstances.
Our best results were Florence Willet coming 1st in the 70m sprint and the boys’ relay team from Lower One also finishing in 1
st place.
ISA Regional Athletics 2016
On Monday, 13
th June, we took a boys and girls’ team to compete in the ISA Regional Athletics competition. The children had a great time and all tried their best. Three of our children did extremely well and managed to come first in their event. These were: Nathan Udall in the High Jump, Dami Kalejaiye in the 75m Sprint and Valencia Danby in the Long Jump. As a result, they will be going to the Nationals on 29
th June, to represent our region. In the team event the girls finished 3
rd and the boys finished in 10
th place out of 17 schools.

ISA National Athletics 2015
On Monday 22
nd June Holly Carolan and Claudia Moore participated in the National ISA Athletics Tournament at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, representing East Anglia. The girls had a great time and were a credit to themselves and the school. Holly was placed 5
th in the Shot Putt and Claudia achieved 11
th place in the 600m track event.
ISA Regional Athletics 2015
The athletics team made a very promising start to the season when they competed in the regional event of this competition. There were some great individual performances as well as team relay results. In total the children won 13 medals and the girls' team came third overall.

District Athletics 2014
On Wednesday 18th June we hosted the District Athletics with over 240 children competing. It was touch and go with the weather but we made the decision to go ahead with the event. Luckily the weather held out and it actually turned out to be a beautiful day. The field events took place in the morning, consisting of long jump, high jump and ball throw. Congratulations to Amelia Moule who broke the district record at Ball Throw, achieving the new district record of 31.5 metres. After the field events had finished the track events began, the sprints ran like clockwork! All of our children displayed fabulous athletic talent and as a result of this we were awarded ‘District Champions’. Well done to all the athletics team!





ISA National Athletics Competition 2014
Two pupils from the Ursuline Prep. qualified to represent East Anglia at The National Athletics Finals at The Alexander Stadium held in Birmingham. In the Year 6 Rounder’s Ball throw, a throw of 38.55 metres was celebrated with the award of a bronze medal. In the 600 metre distance run a very valiant effort achieved 5
th place. Congratulations to both girls on a wonderful achievement.
