We were one of the three teams that finished with an equal amount of points at the top of our pool but the two other teams had a better goal difference and therefore we were placed in the Plate competition. The 'B' team managed to win two games in their pool which took them through to the Plate competition. In the next round they played Cambridge International and lost which meant they were knocked out of the competition, although this experience will hold them in good stead in the future.
The 'A' team managed to win all five games in their pool matches and were put through to the quarter finals where they met Littlegarth and managed to win 1-0. Alleyn Court awaited them in the semi-finals which proved to be a very close game and was decided on penalties - both our keeper and penalty takers were exceptional and we won 2-0. The final against Colchester High proved to be another very close game which went to ‘Golden Goal’ in the dying minutes of extra time. Unfortunately Colchester was the first to score which meant we finished as runners-up. All the boys were a credit to themselves and the school.
Their finishing position means that they qualify for the national event of this competition which is due to take place on Friday 15th
March at Dixie Grammar School in Leicestershire.
