PFA & Parents
There is an active Parents and Friends Association (PFA) of which all parents are automatically members.
The aims of the PFA are:
- to foster the relationship between the staff, parents and others associated with the School;
- to engage in activities which support the School and advance the education of the pupils; and
- to enable members and their families to meet socially.
Over the past few years the PFA has funded the purchase of computers, computer software, science equipment, musical instruments, and many other items.

Greek Day 2012
As part of their History topic, Ancient Greece, the teachers, parents and children of Upper One had a taste of what life was like during this era. The children all changed their names for the day and dressed in costumes of the period. It was both an enjoyable and educational day.

Mothers Day 2011
At the Ursuline Prep it was, 'Mum's the Word,' as mothers of the children in the Infant Department were treated to a special Mother's Day Assembley. The children sung, recited poems and read stories that they had written about their mothers. At the end of the assembley all the mums were presented with a flowering plant and hand crafted gifts made by the children. All the mums enjoyed this special occasion where the children showed their appreciation for everything their mothers did for them.

New Minibus
The school was delighted to take delivery of a new 16 seat minibus, kindly donated by Mr Knight, for use by the school to transport children to and from sporting events and other off premises activities. Headteacher, Mrs Wilson, said she was overwhelmed by his generosity and that the new minibus would be a great asset to all pupils and staff.
Retirement of Don Baker
Don Baker, former Trustee of the Ursuline Preparatory School attended a school assembly where the pupils and staff of the school thanked him for his total dedication and commitment to the school for the past 18 years. Don Baker formed the board of Trustees together with Ian Dury, John Stevens and Pauline Wilson in an attempt to save the school, after The Ursuline Order declared its intention to close the school in 1987.
During that time the school has grown from 58 children, moved to a new building and blossomed to the current situation where the school is totally full and has a long waiting list.
Don Baker played a major role in this success and has given of his time and expertise without hesitation. The past and present pupils and staff are very grateful and we know we will all miss him very much.

Many thanks to the PFA for all their efforts.

The Role of Parents [back to top]
The continuing success of the School is due in no small part to the support given by parents to the School’s aims and traditions.
Parents are encouraged to participate in School life on many occasions including some assemblies and celebratory Masses both in school and at the Cathedral. This participation engenders a closer relationship between parents and teachers.
Although there are parents/teacher interviews when parents can monitor their child’s progress with the class teacher and/or Headteacher, we are happy to discuss a child’s progress at any time by appointment.
