Religious Ethos
Our principal aim is to provide the children with a sound Catholic, moral, social and academic education in a disciplined environment.
As part of the celebrations on the Feast of St. Angela (the Founder of the Ursuline Order) and St. Ursula (its Patron), we have a whole-school celebration. As a Catholic School we celebrate Masses and other services throughout the year.
These include Harvest mass when the children bring in tinned food and toiletries for those less fortunate than ourselves, St. Ursula’s day when we celebrate the foundation of our school, Mother’s day assembly when the infants put on a display for their mothers, Ash Wednesday, Reconciliation services, the Rosary in May and October, individual class prayer times and the Christingle Service of Light at the Brentwood Cathedral in which the infant classes perform the Nativity play.
As a school we are proud to maintain our links with the Cathedral throughout the year.
At Christmas we go to the Marillac to share carols and readings with the residents and staff.
The school accepts pupils of all religious denominations who support the Catholic ethos of the school.
Easter Assembly 2010
Upper Two celebrated the occasion of Easter by re-enacting the Easter Story. The play started with a scene from the Last Supper. The final scenes of the Crucificion and the Ressurrection movingly retold the events as portrayed in the bible. This performance was enjoyed by parents, staff and pupils of the school.
Remembrance Day Assembly 2009
On 11th November 2009, Lower Two gave a very moving and thought-provoking Remembrance Day assembly in which they told the Juniors about the importance of Remembrance Day and the poppies people wear. They also placed particular emphasis on the current war in Afghanistan. Poppies were sold around the school in the preceding weeks.
Harvest Mass 2009
On Monday 28th September the school celebrated its annual Harvest Festival Mass. Father Emmanuel, from the Franciscan Friars in Canning Town, came to lead our mass, and was very grateful for the many donations of food that the children and parents had made. The Mass was a very special one, with all children from Kindergarten upwards participating with both reverence and enthusiasm.
