Children at the Ursuline Prep. greatly enjoy art and design. Through weekly art lessons in our dedicated Art room, they experience painting, sketching, pastels, clay and various other art modes. The work of famous artists such as Picasso, Kadinsky and Monet are used as inspiration. Art is also expressed through the use of ICT. In addition the school offers Art club as an after-school activity.
Pupils take part in both local and regional art competitions including the annual ISA Art competition.
Intermediate's Pop Up Art Gallery
For this art activity the children had been studying self-portraits from different angles. Having completed their portraits, combined with a collaged background, the children created a pop up art gallery to display their work. The Intermediate Portrait Gallery offered pupils and parents the opportunity to view the artwork as well as enter into a competition to guess which portrait matched which person. It was a fun way to showcase the fantastic work of a young class and get everybody involved in viewing and appreciating art.
ISA ART COMPETITION 2015
On Monday 19th
October we entered five pieces of Art work into the ISA Eastern Region Art Competition.
We are delighted to announce that Verity Parker Litjens’ 3D ‘Olly the Octopus’ was awarded second place and the Art Club’s (current Lower One class) version of Starry night by Vincent Van Gogh achieved first place. The Art Club’s version of Starry night has now been entered into the National Competition which will take place before the end of this academic year. Well done to all the children involved.
